    When I lived in Reno I had a neighbor whose favorite thing was to take a white or walla-walla onion, peel the skin off it, slice a bit off the top and bottom, spread some garlic butter on the top, then wrap it all up in tin foil and put it on his BBQ while he grilled up steaks and corn on the cob. I don't remember how long it took, but when he took them off the grill he'd give you a whole cooked onion to slice up and put on your steak or eat as a side dish. I remember it tasted awesome and the inner most heart of the onion was so tender and delicious! He said he learned it from his 1st generation Italian grandmother. I've tried doing it myself... it's just not the same.

      Yeah... it's a good tablespoon worth (as I recall). I think the trick is in how the garlic butter is made and I have no idea how he did it. I think I've used too much garlic.

      Update: Buy garlic butter at the store <or> No margarine! Real butter (salted preferred), crushed garlic [1 heaping teaspoon for each stick (1/4 lb) of butter (or to taste]. Use blender or food processor to mix it all up. Put a heaping teaspoon (not a tablespoon like I thought) on top of the onion. If you don'y have garlic you can use just the butter by itself. It's still delicious AF!

    I won't eat refried beans, ever, I don't even want them on my plate. If the beans were bad to begin with, why refry them? Not a fan of tomatoes raw, but in a stew or chili they're fine. Also at a restaurant I won't order the same thing someone else has ordered. Even if that's what I wanted to begin with, weird I know, I'm working on that oddity of mine.

    Saturday night was pizza night, mom would make a pizza for us kids and one for her and dad.

    I still do this except I can't find appian way pizza kits anymore.

    Plus there's really good frozen pizza, since I go out Saturday night it's Sunday pizza for lunch and of course for the football game.

    I am simple, no mustard because I am allergic as hell, no sourcream because if well digestive issues but love the taste, most fish is out but love shell fish, absolutely love cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese because it is the god of foods, all gravies are perfect, fries have to be triple fried or completely limp, meats well done because I got food poisoning from a rare steak as a kid, love shark steaks just not the blue shark, I love "ethnic foods" like tripe, lingue, cabrito, pan, naan, tandori anything, and even kimchi. Pho is my favorite soup, my guilt snack is loaded nachos with triple cheese, spiced ground beef, salsa, avacado, and sauteed onions.
